BUK registration exercise for new and old students 2020/2021




Registration procedure at Bayero University, Kano (BUK) for the 2020/2021 academic session for newly admitted and returning students.

This is to inform all newly admitted and returning students from Bayero University, Kano (BUK) that the management of the institution has published the registration procedure and timetable for the 2020/2021 academic session.

BUK registration procedure

Before continuing, check out: BUK Tuition Fee Schedule for the 2020/2021 Academic Session.

This is to inform all students admitted to the 2020/2021 academic session who have completed their selection online and have been able to print their acknowledgments to visit to register. They should take note of and comply with the following plans.

Registration procedure: You are asked to log into the myBUK portal, print your personalized payment invoice, pay the exact amount using the Remita e-Payments and e-Collection platforms, and then log back into the portal to register for the Classes. Make sure you pay the amount appropriately, as a different payment than what is on the invoice would not allow you to continue!

Registration schedule: The following schedule will be strictly applied:

September 6 – October 4, 2021 Registration of new and former students


  1. Registration means paying the appropriate registration fee AND COURSE REGISTRATION without delay.
  2. New 100 and 200 level students should check the University portal or visit their departments for the right courses to enroll.
  3. Returning students should see their second semester 2019/2020 results and contact their level coordinators for guidance prior to course registration.
  4. All students must submit their Course Enrollment Forms (CRF) to their level coordinators for departmental documentation before enrollment closes.
  5. The Senate has ordered that any student who does not register within the allotted time must apply for Suspension of studies for the semester within two weeks of the closing of registrations. Those who do not request the suspension of studies for the session within the specified period will be considered withdrawn from the University. No suspension of studies for new students.

Registration guidelines:

Start registration

A. Authentication

  • All students, whether new or returning, must authenticate their scholarship before starting the registration process.
  • New students need their (i) serial number from admission letter, (ii) application number and (iii) registration number for authentication. New students are free to choose their password at the time of authentication. After successful authentication, a username is generated for a student.
  • Returning students need their (i) registration number, (ii) last session username and (iii) last session password for authentication. Returning students have the option of changing their password at the time of authentication.
  • All passwords must be at least 6 characters long and are case sensitive.

B. Log in

  • After successful authentication, students can use their respective username and password to log in ( in order to start or continue the registration process.

C. Registration procedure

The registration procedure is as follows:

i) Profile update: Students must first update their profile. Note that students are strongly advised to update their phone numbers and emails as used on their BUK Custom Payment Form (BUKPPF).

ii) Student Information Form (SIF): After updating the profile, students can generate and download / print their Student Information Form (SIF).

iii) BUK Custom Payment Form (BUKPPF): Students must generate, download and print a BUK Custom Payment Form (BUKPPF). The registration fees are reflected on the student’s BUKKPF, to be paid using Remita e-Payments and the e-Collection platform (click on here for the payment procedure). Make sure you read, understand and follow the payment process carefully, as BUK will not be responsible for any loss of funds resulting from incorrect data entry. Students should ensure that they have entered EXACTLY ALL of the BUKPPF information. Students should also ensure that

  • MDA name
  • Name of service / purpose
  • The description
  • Amount to pay (₦)
  • Registration number.
  • Full name of payer
  • Payor’s email
  • Payor’s phone

are captured exactly as they are written to the BUKPPF. Note that the payer (full name of payer, email of payer, phone of payer) refers to the student, so even if the student is not the one making the payment (payment by proxy), be sure to ” use student information. Any incorrect information may cause unnecessary delay in the validation and processing of the payment. Payments are generally validated and processed within 24/48 hours of payment. NOTE THAT ALL FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE AFTER PAYMENT

iv) Student Payment Receipt (SPR): Once payment has been validated and processed, students must generate and download / print a Student Payment Receipt (SPR) in order to continue enrollment.

v) Course registration: After printing the SPR, a student can register their courses. Students are strongly advised to seek advice from their respective level coordinators on which courses they are expected to enroll in, with any limitations and / or restrictions.

vi) Course Registration Form (CRF): After course registration, students must generate and download / print the Course Registration Form (CRF). The CRF contains details of recorded courses.

vii) Registration Acknowledgment (RAS): After printing the CRF, students can print the Registration Receipt (RAS) to confirm that they have successfully completed their registration process.

Students can log out and continue enrolling later.

ATBU Graduate Studies Admission Form

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for admission into various full-time and part-time postgraduate programs at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi for the 2021/2022 academic session.

Postgraduate programs are available in Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Tech. Education (M.Tech. Ed), Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Technology (M.Tech.), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Health Management (MHM), Master of Accounting and Finance (MAFS), Master of Entrepreneur and Business Development (MEBD) and Graduate Diploma (PGD).

Admission requirements for ATBU postgraduate programs

Who can apply for ATBU postgraduate programs?

  1. Graduate Diploma (DPI)
    1. All applicants must meet registration requirements including English Language and Mathematics credit pass at O ​​level. That is WAEC, NECO, NABTEB.
    2. Graduates from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University or other recognized universities with at least a third class honors degree.
    3. HND holders with a lower minimum credit from recognized institutions.
    4. Holders of any other qualification as well as relevant field experience deemed acceptable by the University.
  2. Master’s degree
    1. All applicants must meet registration requirements including English language and math credit at O ​​level. That is WAEC, NECO, NABTEB.
    2. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University graduates who obtained the approved first degree with at least the second class with distinction (Lower Division).
    3. Applicants with an approved Honors University degree (GPA of 3.00 and above on a 5.00 point scale) or GPA of 2.40 to 2.99 inclusive plus three years after graduation.
    4. Applicants with a third class honors degree plus five years after graduation.
    5. Appropriate graduate degree from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University or other recognized universities with at least credit achievement.
    6. Candidates whose diplomas are not ranked with an average of C or above
    7. Applicants who possess a higher national degree with at least one credit card from recognized institutions and at least one graduate degree credit card from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in relevant fields.
    8. Applicants may be required to take a qualifying examination either before approval for enrollment or at an appropriate stage in their coursework or research.
  3. Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) and Masters by Research Diplomas
    1. Graduates from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University or other recognized institutions who have obtained the approved first degree with at least the second class (Upper Division)
    2. A good second-class specialist degree and considerable relevant industrial experience.
  4. Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.)
    1. All applicants must meet registration requirements including English Language and Mathematics credit pass at O ​​level. That is WAEC, NECO, NABTEB.
    2. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University graduates who hold an appropriate master’s degree for the fields of study offered
    3. Graduates from other recognized universities with a master’s degree with a GPA of at least 3.50 on a scale of 5.00
    4. Candidates for the Doctorate programs may be required to pass a qualifying examination and / or undergo a probationary period not exceeding 12 calendar months.

Application forms must be completed online from September 1, 2021. Applicants must submit their application forms online with scanned copies of their credentials.

  • Make sure that only a valid and working email address and phone number should be used, as subsequent correspondence will go through these channels.
  • Please ensure that the online form is carefully and correctly completed, as corrections to personal information or change of course after the online application is completed and submitted will incur a fee.
  • It is mandatory for applicants to make arrangements with their previous institutions to forward a hard copy of their transcript to the head of the department of their proposed programs. No candidate will be considered for admission without a valid transcript.
  • Applicants should upload a pre-proposal or synopsis and ensure that a hard copy is mailed to the department head of your proposed program.
  • Applicants without NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate do NOT need to apply.
  • Applicants for admission to professional master’s programs must pass a selection test on dates to be announced by the faculty.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS AND CLOSING DATE: All applications will close on November 30, 2021.

After creating account on the registration page, candidates are expected to log in to the university portal with their username and password and continue registration/payment process. Admission form for HND Conversion to Degree Programmes is N31, 200.00 only and Part-time Weekend /Regular Part-time Programmes is N26, 200.00 only, payable
through the university portal. No account number is required. All transactions are secured through the university online portal. (Check procedure for online registration).

1. Visit the University Website
2. On ADMISSION Menu, click on “2021/2022 PART-TIME ADMISSION
3. On the page that appears, click on REGISTER FOR 2021/2022 PART-TIME

  •  Fill the form correctly and click on Create account.
  • An E-mail containing your login details will be sent to you. Your login

details will also be displayed on the page for you to copy and take note of.
4. Click on Login and enter your username and password sent to your email
5. You will be prompted to change your password. Save your new password.
6. Confirm your Invoice and click on Proceed to Pay
7. You will be redirected to Interswitch payment platform, enter your card details and make your payment conveniently. For security purposes, your card details are NOT stored in our secured portal.
8. After successful payment, click on ‘Update Personal Data’ menu on the left,UPDATE ALL FIELDS on your registration form and submit.
9. Print your Registration Slip and log out.
10.Save your login details. Your username and your password are your personal credentials to access your profile in the university portal.
